Sugar prices down on low demand, ample stocks

Sugar saw fall of Rs 25 per quintal in its prices at the wholesale market in the national capital today due to subdued demand from bulk consumers amid huge stocks position on persistent supply.
Marketmen said heavy stocks position following increased supplies from mills and subdued demand, mainly put pressure on the sweetener prices.
Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices shed Rs.10 each to Rs.3,220-3,340 and Rs.3,210-3,330 per quintal, respectively.
Mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices also eased by Rs.10 each to Rs.3,060-3,180 and Rs.3,040-3,170 per quintal.
In the millgate section, sugar Budhana, Daurala, Thanabhavan and Simbholi were down by Rs.25 each to Rs.3,090, Rs.3,100, Rs.3,085 and Rs.3,140, while Modinagar lost Rs.20 at Rs.3,090 per quintal.
Prices of Sakoti, Mawana and chandpur also declined by Rs.15 each at Rs.3,070, Rs.3,125 and Rs.3,070 per quintal.
