Myanmar State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi on Thursday stressed on boosting bilateral trade between Nepal and her country.
Addressing a gathering at the opening day of the 'Nepal Chamber Expo-2018' here, she invited Nepalese entrepreneurs to invest in Myanmar and said the country has created a safe and favourable environment for foreign investors.
"Nepal and Myanmar need to increase their economic activities, business and people to people contact," Suu Kyi said.
There is enough room for better cooperation and collaboration between the two countries to increase the volume of bilateral trade between them which currently stands at just USD 3.86 million, she said.
Besides Myanmar, industries from several other countries, including India and China, showcased their products in the expo being organised by the Nepal Chamber of Commerce.
Suu Kyi also said countries in the South-Asian sub-region can cooperate in the areas of trade, tourism, technology, human resources, agriculture and fisheries to improve the life of people in the respective nations.
The Myanmar leader arrived here earlier in the day to attend the Asia Pacific Summit, which will bring together heads of states and governments, lawmakers, eminent leaders, businessmen and leaders of civil society of the Asia Pacific region.
The summit is scheduled from Friday to December 3.
Suu Kyi will also meet President Bidya Devi Bhandari, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, Nepalese government officials said.
