Tariq Anwar calls on Lalu in Mumbai hospital

Nationalist Congress Party general secretary Tariq Anwar today called on Rashtriya Janata Party chief Lalu Prasad at a hospital in Mumbai where the latter is scheduled to undergo a surgery tomorrow.

"I met Lalu ji at the Asia Heart Hospital today and expressed my wish for his speedy recovery. We are political allies as well as personal friends", Anwar, who represents Katihar Lok Sabha constituency, told PTI over phone.

Serving sentences in a number of fodder scam cases, the septuagenarian RJD supremo had been in jail since December last year. He is currently out on a provisional bail granted by the Jharkhand High Court.

Prasad, who suffers from many ailments like diabetes, blood pressure and kidney-related problems, will undergo an operation for fistula at the Mumbai hospital tomorrow.

Both RJD and NCP are constituents of the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance. Anwar is the sole parliamentarian in Bihar from Sharad Pawar's party.
