Teacher awarded 14-yr RI for sodomising minor student

A fast-trackcourthere today awarded 14-year rigorous imprisonment to a school teacher for sodomising a 14-year-old student last year.
Additional District Sessions Judge Yogesh Parik sentenced Anudeepak Lakra (23) to 14-year imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 on him, public prosecutor PN Gupta said.
On November 5, 2014, Lakra had sodomised the Class IV student in the afternoon after the school hours.
However, the incident came to light next day when the student refrained from going to school and narrated the incident to his parents when they enquired him about the reason, he said.
Dharamjaigarh police arrested Lakra under section 377 (unnatural sex) of IPC andsection 4,6,8 ofPOCSO(Protection of Children from Sexual Offence) and had submitted a charge-sheet to the fast track court in this connection, Gupta said.

Pronouncing the verdict today, the judgesaid on default of fine payment, the convict will further undergo additional imprisonment for 6 months.
The court also directed the state government to provide a compensation of Rs 50,000 to the victim.
