A 19-year-old German girl, who went missing on Wednesday under mysterious circumstances, was found dead on railway track in Faridabad on the outskirts of the city, with police suspecting it to be a case of suicide.
Body of Judith Aino Ehnas, who lived in H-Block of CR Park area here and worked with an NGO in Kalkaji, was recovered yesterday, police said.
"The girl had come to India to work with the NGO. She was living with her two colleagues. On Wednesday, when the two colleagues returned, they did not find Ehnas at home. They tried to reach her on her mobile phone but found it switched off," a police officer said.
They then contacted the police after which several search teams were dispatched.
Her mobile phone was traced in Faridabad and the police team that went there found that body of a foreigner girl was recovered from railway track.
She was later identified as Ehnas.
The girl's family has been informed through the Embassy and they are on their way to India. Once they arrive, a post-mortem will be get done by Haryana Police, an officer said.
According to sources, the girl had come to India to work with an NGO which works for educating youth about their rights. She was working as a volunteer in the NGO.
Police is questioning her friends and colleagues to establish the reason behind her suicide.
