"The opposition parties want a debate on power, students' fees reimbursement, health, agriculture and drinking water issues. The government is ready for discussion," Congress Chief Whip G Venkata Ramana Reddy told reporters after a meeting of the Assembly's Business Advisory Committee.
Main opposition TDP accused the government of not being sincere in conducting the House as the session will have just five sittings.
"We wanted the House to meet for at least 20 days to discuss 20 issues," senior TDP MLA G Muddukrishnama Naidu told reporters.
He said the government was ready for only four sittings, which was later extended by a day.
"The Congress government is running away. We walked out in protest against their insincere attitude," he said.
The number of working days of the Assembly was coming down since 2008 and the government was only conducting the House without sincerity, he alleged.
Other opposition parties, including YSR Congress Party and the Left also said the House should meet for at least 15 days.
Asserting that the government was ready to debate on all issues, the ruling Congress, however, dismissed the charge that the government was not interested in a long session. MORE
