Telangana taps solar power in big way; generation at 1,758 MW

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today expressed happiness that 1,758 MW of solar power is available in the state and that another 3,000 MW would be added in the next three years.
During an interaction here, Rao was told by senior officials of power utilities that 1,758 MW of solar power is available as on date in Telangana, a release from the Chief Minister's Office said.
Only one mega watt of solar power was available in Telangana when the state came into existence on June 2, 2014, it said.
Another 3,000 MW of solar power would be added in the next three years, thus making Telangana one of the major solar power generating states, the release added.
