Ten tonnes of red sandalwood seized

The seizure came following police receiving inputs that one person (name withheld), who is allegedly involved in illegal export of red sandalwood from India to China and has stocked red sandalwood in his godown in Janakpuri.

"We raided the premises in the presence of officials of Department of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) and seized the red sandalwood.

"This was kept in the store and was to be smuggled to China. The same has been seized and legal action in to the matter has been initiated," S B S Tyagi, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime), said.
