Comedy rock duo Tenacious D has claimed that its official Twitter account, which posted about the band's singer Jack Black's death, had been hacked.
Fans of the American actor-singer went into a state of frenzy when Tenacious D's Twitter account wrote, "I'm sad to officially annouce [sic] the death of Jack Black at the age of 46, rest in peace brother."
It followed it up with the hashtag, "#RipJackBlack," reported Daily Telegraph.
"It is with a heavy heart I am to announce that Jack Black passed away last night at 3:37am. The cause of death is yet unknown," the account added.
Later tweets revealed it was all a joke. Calm down guys! It's just a prank bro. The Legend is still alive, it is okay guys. Just a meme bro
The band's guitarist John Konesky later revealed the Twitter account had been hacked.
A Twitter user also shared a Snapchat of Black taken in Germany where Tenacious D had been performing at the Rock am Ring festival.
