Thane ZP introduces 'Maji Shala, Pragat Shala' concept

Thane Zilla Parishad will introduce concept "Maji Shala, Pragat shala" (My School, Advanced School) from the current academic session, facilitating schools to buy study materials.
ZP chief executive officer Uday Choudhary said under the new scheme ZP-run schools will be allocated funds for purchasing materials like uniform, books and other study materials, unlike the earlier practice where ZP made the purchases and then distributed to schools.
He said as per the previous procedure, instances of disparity in distribution were observed, hence, to weed it out, the new concept has been introduced.
He said a fund of around Rs 4 crore will be distributed to about 1,374 schools under the ZP.

"After deliberation, we decided to bring in the new concept. The teaching staff of schools can now decided to spend accordingly based on the number of wards," he said.
