Lalzirliana told PTI that the government received information that a few cadre of Manipur-based Hmar People's Convention-Democrats were indulging in extortion in Assam border areas yesterday.
"I instructed the police officers to arrest those militants who extorted money from non-tribal workers and three persons were arrested yesterday," he said.
Meanwhile, the police said that the arrested persons were sympathizers of HPC-D faction led by Lalhmingthanga Sanate.
