Three Gandhinagar policemen were placed under suspension today for allegedly showing a callous approach to duty while securing the route of Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani's convoy, officials said.

The three policemen, posted yesterday at Gandhinagar's Indroda Circle to secure the CM's convoy, remained seated inside a police vehicle instead of manning the spots allocated to them, said in charge Superintendent of Police, Gandhinagar, Vijay Patel today.

"Head constable Mahendrasinh Jaswantsinh, constable Jaymal Mulabhai and Assistant sub inspector(ASI) Jayantibhai Muljibhai were suspended today, following an inquiry, for showing a callous approach to duty," Patel said.

He said that the three policemen were suspended after CCTV footage, which was scoured as part of the inquiry, showed them seated in a police vehicle and hurrying to the allocated spots only when they saw the convoy approaching.
