Three held for rioting, attempt to murder

Three persons were today arrested from Shahapur town in the district on charges of rioting and attempt to murder, police said.
The accused were identified as Prakash Bhoir (26), Prashant Nichite (25) and Uttam Bhoir (27), all residents of Shahapur, police said.
"The trio, along with eight to nine others, had indulged in rioting in a ladies' bar late last night," Police Inspector of Kongaon Police station G K Dhamal said.
"They had picked up a quarrel with the woman singer in the bar, following which there was a scuffle and they tore her shirt. When the bar owner and staff tried to intervene, the accused attacked them with the broken beer bottles," he said.

The trio as well as nine others, who are on the run, have been booked under various sections of the IPC.
"They were produced in a local court and were remanded in police custody till June 30," police said adding that a hunt was on for the absconding accused.
