The clash broke out this morning when the Pradhan of a neighbouring village, Mahendra Singh Willow reached Binikhera along with his men to claim ownership of the disputed eight bighas of land near a Mosque, police said.
A group of Binikhera villagers protested following which Willow allegedly asked his men to fire at them, killing three on the spot and leaving another injured, they said.
Tension gripped the area after the incident, prompting authorities to deploy additional PAC personnel in Kashipur.
