Three policemen killed, seven injured in gunfight in Pak

At least three policemen were killed and seven others injured today in a fierce gunfight with gunmen holed up in a house in the outskirts of this northwestern city of Pakistan.
A police team was conducting a search operation against militants and proclaimed offenders in Urmur area, a rural locality of Peshawar district, when the unidentified armed men fired at them, triggering a fierce gunfight.
Three policemen were killed on the spot while seven injured have been taken to the Lady Reading Hospital. One attacker was also killed while others fled the area.
Security forces later recovered mortar shells and other explosive material from the house.

A search operation is being conducted in the area to arrest the attackers, police said.
