Three women students of a leading Islamic university in Pakistan today claimed they were detained for over 16 hours in their hostel rooms after they protested about corruption by the administration.
Other students of the International Islamic University here claimed the administration had locked the three students in their rooms since last night and allegedly threatened them with serious consequences. No food or water was available in their rooms, they said.
After 16 hours, the other students broke the locks of the rooms and freed two of the three students while the third was freed by court officials, The Express Tribune reported on its website.
The three students were earlier thrown out of their rooms after they protested over corruption by the hostel administration. They obtained a stay order from court, after which the hostel administration allegedly confined a student in a room, Geo News reported.
However, police said the university administration had no role in the matter and the student had confined herself in the room.
The university administration said the three students were ousted from the hostel three months ago and the court's stay order had expired yesterday.
