Filmmaker Karan Johar has revealed actor Tiger Shroff will star in the sequel to his 2012 hit college drama "Student of the Year".
While Johar directed the first film besides co-producing it, the sequel will be helmed by Punit Malhotra of "I Hate Luv Storys".
"It's OFFICIAL... Directed by Punit Malhotra, Student of the Year 2 (SOTY2) with Tiger Shroff @iTIGERSHROFF," tweeted Johar, who will produce the movie under his Dharma Productions.
Expressing his happiness, Tiger tweeted, "Wound up and charged sir! Yahooo!! @karanjohar @punitdmalhotra #StudentOfTheYear2."
Rest of the film's cast is yet to be announced.
The first movie, which was a love triangle story, launched the careers of Varun Dhawan, Sidharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt.
The three lead stars wished all the luck to the 26-year-old "Baaghi" actor and the team of the sequel.
"Sounds exciting @karanjohar can't wait to watch it best of luck @punitdmalhotra n @iTIGERSHROFF," tweeted Sidharth, with Tiger replying, "Thank you so much @S1dharthM! Looking forward to baar baar dekho! All the best!"
Alia showed curiosity about the film's lead actress and praised Tiger, writing, YAY! I wonder who the lovely girl is??? Either way no one better than @iTIGERSHROFF to take the franchise forward!!!"
Replying to her post, Tiger said the original actors are tough to match.
Varun also extended his best wishes to the team.
