TMC MLA to seek central probe into alleged fraud

A Trinamool Congress MLA today accused the Suri municipality of misappropriation of fund sanctioned under the JNNURM to set up drinking water supply system and sought a probe into the alleged scam.
TMC MLA Swapan Ghosh from Suri today said he would write a letter to the Union Urban Development Ministry seeking probe into the alleged misappropriation of fund.
"Crores of money that the central government had sanctioned to construct drinking water supply system in Suri town have been misappropriate by the Suri municipality authority," the legislator told reporters here.
"The people are suffering from acute water scarcity but the project is still incomplete due to crunch of fund. Now the municipality authority is saying that they had to diversify the fund. But surprisingly they could not tell me where those huge amount of money had gone," he said.

He also said that he had written several letters to the concerned department of the state government but not yet received any satisfactory answered. The state government had not started any investigation.
"My fight is not with my party. I will write a letter to the urban development ministry of the central government to probe this scam. They themselves may conduct inquiry or hand it over to CBI as the money ultimately sanctioned by the central government," he said.
