TN Governor unveils Thiruvalluvar statue

Tamil Nadu Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao today unveiled a statue of saint poet Thiruvalluvar in a sitting posture at the sprawling Raj Bhavan premises here.
"Three Kurals (couplets) from different chapters of Thirukkural are inscribed on the three sides of Thiruvalluvar statue," a Raj Bhavan press release said.
The couplets highlight the importance of wisdom, love and education.
Fascinated by the philosophy of Thiruvalluvar, his work Thirukkural, and its great relevance for the present and future, the Governor ordered for erecting a Thiruvalluvar statue, the release said.
Unveiling the statue, Rao said Thiruvalluvar's message should go across the world to build a harmonious world and realise the oneness of humanity.

Chief Secretary Girija Vaidyanathan, HR&CE Minister Sevvoor S Ramachandran, Former Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court, Justice M Karpaga Vinayagam were among those who took part in the function.

Raj Bhavan in another release said Governor Rao had directed installation of a solar green power plant to cater to the energy needs of Raj Bhavan here to promote green energy
Accordingly, the plant is getting ready for commissioning, it said.
"This 400 KW Grid connected ground mounted solar power plant would generate about six lakh units of power per annum and is expected to meet about 75 per cent energy consumption of Raj Bhavan," the release said.
