TN govt appeals to people to contribute relief material

The Tamil Nadu government today appealed to people to contribute relief material for flood-hit areas and said arrangements have been made at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium here to collect them.
There has been a constant supply of relief material from various states and districts in Tamil Nadu and the government has appealed to individuals and NGOs to supply material to the relief centre at the stadium, an official release said.
Officials are currently engaged in organising the relief material, it said, adding NGOs and those interested may contribute to the relief centre.
Chennai and neighbouring areas were devastated by heavy rainfall over last few weeks leaving 245 people dead and rendering several peoples homeless.
