The assailants knocked at the door of garment trader Manoj Aggarwal's house at about 8 PM last night, a time when the entire family was sitting on the first floor, Khatima Circle Officer J R Joshi said.
Aggarwal's 15-year-old son Shubham Aggarwal, who studied at a school in Nainital and was on a vacation, ran downstairs to open the door, he said.
The moment he opened the door, the assailants attacked him with a sharp-edged weapon and slit his throat, Joshi said, adding that by the time his parents came down to find out what was amiss, Shubham was dead.
