Police today arrested a former principal of a local school, who jumped parole in 2006 while serving life term in a human trafficking case.
Manjula (54), an English lecturer-cum-principal, had been sentenced to life imprisonment in 2005 after being convicted of forcing girls who came to her for private tuitions into prostitution.
A local court also convicted Manjula's husband Sushil Kumar, who was an inspector in FCI, to 10 years' imprisonment in the case. He, however, was acquitted by a high court later.
Manjula came out of jail on parole in 2006 for four weeks and had been absconding since then, police said.
In 2000, a girl from Kalsiyan village of Ludhiana district, lodged an FIR against Manjula for allegedly forcing her into prostitution. The girl later committed suicide, police said.
