The CISF, which guards the Delhi Metro, has created a 'model station' to showcase the best practices and etiquettes of travel in rapid public transport systems across the globe for passenger comfort and safety.
In the first phase, the Jasola metro station has been declared a model station and additional CISF personnel have been deployed to aid passengers in making queues and manoeuvring in a disciplined manner in the station area and before boarding.
"Passengers, as part of the model station project, will be helped and directed by specially trained CISF men and women to easily take the stairs, escalators and form queues before boarding the train coach," a senior official said.
Separate lines for general passengers, women and senior citizens have been created at the station, as part of the new concept so that they can obtain traveling tokens and cards smoothly, he said.
Passengers will also be requested to pay attention to the announcements being made in the station area, including the most important one to remain behind the yellow line while being on the platform.
A special 'may I help you' counter has also been set up at the station which will be manned by security personnel to assist commuters and answer their travel queries.
After gauging its success at Jasola, the initiative will be implemented at few more stations.
"The idea is to have at least one model station on each of the six lines that are operational in the Delhi metro. The aim to start this exercise is to make passenger travel better and hassle-free considering the metro has an average footfall of 28 lakh passengers per day," he said.
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has deployed about 5,000 personnel to guard the over 130 stations of the metro network in the national capital region.
