Tributes paid to VOC on his birth anniversary

Speaker of Puducherry Assembly V Sabapathy, Ministers and legislators paid floral tributes at the statue of freedom fighter V O Chidambaram Pillai on the occasion of his 142nd birth anniversary here today.
Popularly known as VOC, the veteran freedom fighter introduced the first indigenous shipping service between Tuticorin and Colombo during the British regime.
He was also known as "Kappalottiya Tamizhan", because of this deed.
