Trilochan Pradhan conferred with Kalinga Samman, 2014

Eminent physicist and Padma Bhushan Trilochan Pradhan has been conferred with the prestigous "Kalinga Samman 2014" for popularising science among the common man in Odisha.
Pradhan was honoured by chief minister Naveen Patnaik at a function last evening.
"Pradhan is considered an iconic personality and role model for others in the field of advanced scientific research, particularly in the field of physical sciences. The next generation should follow his ideals to spread the wings of scientific temper so that the common man gets the benefits of scientific and technological developments," Patnaik said.
The Kalinga Foundation Trust since 2010 has been presenting the Kalinga Samman to people who have contributed to the growth and popularisation of science and technology in Odisha. Six outstanding persons have so far been awarded, Patnaik said.

Stating that the science is a powerful instrument which can bring enduring solutions to our crucial socio- economic and environmental challenges, Patnaik said innovation in science and technology has greatly moulded people's lifestyle.
