Two die in road mishap in Kanpur

Two persons died when a truck hit their bike at Cahubeypur-Shibli Marg in the city, police said here today.
Vijay (30), a resident of Besan village, along with his uncle Sabresh (38), had gone to buy medicine for his father when a truck coming foam Cahubeypur hit his bike near Dilipnagar farm last night, a police spokesperson said.
The bike-borne duo came under the front wheels of the truck and died on the spot, he said.
The driver tried to flee from the spot but was caught by the locals.
Both the bodies has been sent for the post-mortem, he added.

In another incident, a truck crushed to death a four-year-old girl at Nawati Marg in Nawabganj.

The victim, Kumud, was playing outside her home when a brick-laden truck coming from Nawabganj run over her last night. The girl died on the spot, police said.
The driver made an attempt to flee from the spot, but was later nabbed from his house.
Enraged over the incidents, local residents blocked the road at both the places, but police later pacified them and lifted the blockade, they said.
