Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet the 'Shiksha Mitras' representatives on his visit to the Lok Sabha constituency here tomorrow, the district administration announced today.
Varanasi district magistrate Rajmani Yadav and Senior Superintendent of police Jogendra Kumar in a joint press conference appealed the 'Shiksha Mitras' (contractual teachers) to maintain peace as their request to have an audience with the Prime Minister has been adhered to.
A delegation of six persons from the group can meet the Prime Minister tomorrow. A confirmation from the PMO regarding the meeting was received by the district administration yesterday, the officials said.
Tight security arrangements have been made for PM's visit and we are fully prepared to foil any such attempts from the agitating shiksha mitras that would lead in law and order crisis here, they said.
Apparently being upset over the cancellation of regularisation of their service following a recent judgement of the Allahabad High Court, the ad hoc teachers had threatened to stage a protest here, if they were denied an appointment with Modi.
The district officials also said that the Prime Minister will address the public at the DLW grounds here, while the Multipurpose ground in Cantonment area will be restricted to a private audience.
Only those people will get entry to the Multipurpose ground, who have been issued passes as the ground is less spacious, Yadav said.
PM will distribute rickshaw, e-rickshaw, solar lamps and other items to selected beneficiaries at the Multipurpose ground on his one-day visit.
This will be the third visit of the Prime Minister to the ancient temple town after assuming office in May last year.
The much-awaited tour comes nearly nine months after his previous trip on December 25 last year.
