One of the accused works as a pantry boy in the firm and had not reported on duty since the day of the incident.
The body of the security guard Jitender Shukla (30) was found on April 30 in the office of Ansal Housing and Construction located on Barakhamba Road, BK Singh, deputy commissioner (New Delhi) said.
There were multiple wounds on his neck and throat. It was also found that the cash room had been broken into. A screw driver, used for opening the lock of cash room, was also found on the spot, he said.
The accused had covered the main cameras at the firm with brown tape. During scrutiny of CCTV footage from nearby offices, Sohan Singh (42), a pantry boy was seen in the premises around 8 PM on April 29 along with two other persons, Singh said.
One of them was noticed shifting and tilting the front of the cameras to avoid being captured and identified.
Yesterday, after receiving a tip off, a raid was conducted at his residence and he was arrested.
Sohan had been working in the office for the last eight years. His pantry is located near the cash room. He was aware about the money there.
For the last few days, he was facing a shortage of money and got an idea to steal cash from the currency chest of the office, the DCP said.
He shared the idea with Akhtar (40), who had worked as a driver at the firm and was currently unemployed, therefore agreed to be a part of the loot.
Sohan had made the other two men enter the office through the fire exit, when the night guard had gone outside for dinner.
When the trio was breaking open the door of the cash room, Shukla came there and raised an alarm.
The trio allegedly killed him with a khukhri that they carried.
The accused fled from the spot from the rear window of the office. Sohan told police that they could not find any money in the cash room as wooden almirahs.
Akhtar was arrested yesterday from the New Delhi Railway Station when he was trying to escape to Ajmer Sharif.
