A Presidency university official said the duo, both residents of Durgapur, produced to the controller of examinations an admit card which purportedly showed a girl had been admitted to the BCA course and sought to know about the details of the subject.
As no such course is being run by the university, the controller informed the higher officials who lodged a formal complaint with the police on Friday.
The two men were not allowed to leave and later handed over to the police the same day.
The university official said, "we hope the police will bust if there is any racket and arrest the culprits.
