Two labourers killed as tractor overturns in Bihar village

A tractor overturned killing two labourers and injuring another labourer at a village in Lakhisarai district of Bihar today.
The incident took place at Birupur village when the tractor lost control and overturned trapping the three labourers under it while they were digging earth and loading it in the vehicle, Barahia police station in-charge Pramod Kumar Singh said.
While two labourers, identified as Pravesh Mahto (30) and Umesh Sao (40) died on the spot, Indradev Mahto was injured.
The injured was taken to a referral hospital, Singh said.
Efforts were on to extricate the two bodies trapped under the tractor.

Meanwhile, locals were agitating and disrupting rescue work demanding compensation from the district administration for the kin of the victims.
The district magistrate has rushed an officer to the spot, Singh said.
