Two youths, from the northeastern state of Manipur were allegedly beaten up with sticks in Ambedkar Nagar area of south Delhi last night, police said today.
Ginkhansuan Naulak (24) and his cousin Vumsuanmung Naulak (25) were attacked by some unidentified bike-borne assailants last night when they had gone to the market at around 8:30 PM.
Both of them were taken to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) where Vumsuanmung was discharged after first aid while Ginkhansuan is still undergoing medical treatment at the Trauma Centre.
"Ginkhansuan Naulak suffered a laceration (deep cut and damage in the underlying cartilage) in his left ear. Stitches have been administered and dressing has been done. Apart from that he also has minor bruises all over his body and complains of stomach ache," said his friend.
Doctors treating him said that his condition is stable.
The victims have informed police that the attackers did not rob anything from them and they were not known to them.
The incident comes close on the heels of the death of Nido Tania, a youth from Arunachal Pradesh who was purportedly beaten to death here a few days back by some shopkeepers following a quarrel over taunts on his hairstyle and rape of a 14-year-old Manipuri in South Delhi's Munirka area.
