Two men jailed for 10 years for possessing 240 kg drugs

Two men have been sent to 10 years in jail by a Delhi court for possessing over 240 kg of banned drugs.
Special Judge Sanjay Bansal convicted the two men and awarded them the minimum imprisonment of 10 years under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and imposed a fine of Rs two lakh each.
The court held Haryana residents Pawan and Sanjay guilty, saying prosecution has established that a huge quantity of ganja (cannabis) was brought in a truck.
It said while Pawan was driving the truck, Sanjay also arrived in Durgapuri area of north east Delhi in a car. When they were discussing something, they were caught by the cops on the spot along with the contraband weighing 240.3 kilos.

The investigators acted on a tip-off that a huge quantity of drugs was being transported in a truck.
During the trial, the duo claimed they were falsely implicated and were strangers to each other.
The court, however, rejected their submission saying when two persons are strangers, it does not mean that they cannot commit a crime together and it could have been their first deal.
