The victims- Aravapalli Phani Sekhar (30) and Vasireddy Kamala Praveen (19), who were neighbours, had gone for swimming in the river, when the tragedy happened, Chandarlapadu Sub-Inspector L Ramesh said.
While Phani Sekhar was an employee of the Income Tax department in Hyderabad, Kamala Praveen was studying engineering at a college in Guntur district. They had come to Kasarabada, their native village for Diwali festival.
The bodies were fished out and sent to Nandigama Government Hospital for post-mortem.
