Uber cab rape case: Victim re-examined for 3rd day

The re-examination of the woman, allegedly raped by a driver of Uber cab service provider, continued today for the third day in a Delhi court with her father complaining that his daughter was being made to relive the incident again and again which is proving tough for her.
"The defence counsel is asking irrelevant questions to my daughter. She is being harassed and traumatised by such questions. She is made to relive the incident again and again. It is very tough for her," father of the victim, who stood next to him, told waiting mediapersons outside the court room.
The father vent his anger and frustration after his daughter came out of the in-camera proceedings.

The proceedings in the trial court continued even as the Supreme Court today decided to hear tomorrow the woman's appeal against the Delhi High Court's March 4 order allowing the accused to recall 13 witnesses including her.
The 25-year-old woman, while being cross-examined by Shiv Kumar Yadav's counsel, told Additional Sessions Judge Kaveri Baweja that the advocate was asking irrelevant questions and she was traumatised and was forced to relive the ghastly incident, the sources said.
The statement was recorded in the presence of the judge and only the victim, accused, prosecutor and defence counsel were present in the court room.

Her cross examination remained inconclusive and is likely to continue tomorrow.

Meanwhile, advocate D K Mishra, appearing for Yadav, moved a plea seeking court's direction to start the proceedings of the case in the morning session to provide sufficient time for conducting the trial on a day-to-day basis in compliance with the high court order.
Currently, the proceedings in the case are conducted in post-lunch session.
The advocate claimed that an impression is being given in the orders of the court and by the prosecutor that he was delaying the trial without any meaningful cross examination and thereby traumatising the victim which was incorrect. The application is still pending.
