Undertial dead, family protests

Ram Avtar (69), a resident of Rawatpur, died late last evening while undergoing treatment for breathing problems at the Ursula hospital, a police spokesperson said.

Avtar had been ill but had recovered at the jail hospital after treatment. The body has been sent for post-mortem, police said.

The family of the deceased alleged that he died due to deliberate neglect on part of jail authorities saying that he was not given proper treatment by them despite his poor health. The jail authorities have outrightly rejected the allegations, police said.
