Union ministers to tour T'gana districts hit by untimely rains

Union Ministers M Venkaiah Naidu, Bandaru Dattatreya and Mohanbhai Kundariya would tour different districts in Telangana tomorrow to assess the crop damages caused by unseasonal rains since the last few days.
Naidu and Kundariya, Union Minister of State for Agriculture, would visit Nalgonda district to see losses due to rains, a BJP release said here today.
Dattatreya, Union Labour Minister (Independent charge), would tour Karimnagar district, the release said.
The ministers would interact with the concerned district collectors and Telangana agriculture department officials to assess the assistance required from the Centre, it said.
Telangana BJP MLAs, MLCs and other office-bearers would tour all the districts of Telangana on April 16 and 17 and submit a report on the damages to the state and central government.
At least three persons were killed till yesterday in rain-related incidents in Telangana and different standing crops like paddy, vegetables and mango suffered extensive damages, according to state government officials.
Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who reviewed the situation yesterday, announced a financial assistance of Rs five lakh to the next of kin of those who were killed in rain-related incidents.
Rao, who held a review with ministers and officials on the situation arising out of the rains, asked the administration to furnish reports on the number of dead, the extent of crop damages and loss of property among others, a release from his office said.
