The Uttar Pradesh BJP today said the thoughts of Hindutva icon Deen Dayal Upadhyaya pertaining to society and politics were relevant even today, adding that a research should be conducted on those ideas.
"The thoughts of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya regarding politics and society are relevant even today and there is a need to undertake a research on his ideas. The circumstances in which Upadhyaya expressed his ideas hold relevance even today," a party statement quoted Uttar Pradesh BJP general secretary (organisation) Sunil Bansal as saying.
He was speaking at a seminar organised here to mark the birth centenary celebrations of Upadhyaya.
"Barring the Emergency period, India's democracy kept moving. This is indeed a matter of pride for us that we live in a democracy and experience it. We have to make the people understand that in a democracy, the government is not the master, the real master is the voters. The masters of democracy in this country are its people," Bansal said.
Citing the Hindutva icon, he said, "Deen Dayal Upadhyaya used to say, principle-less voting led to principle-less politics.
