According to Central Water Commission (CWC), major rivers were flowing close to the danger mark with the Sharda and Ghaghra already crossing the danger mark at Pallia and Barabanki.
MeT office here said Chandradeep Ghat recorded 15 cms rainfall while Gunnaur recorded six cms, Kakerdharighat and Narora five cms each, Rasra and Bansi four cms each, Bahraich, Balrampur, Mankapur, Tarabganj, Bansgaon and Mukhlispur three cms each.
Weatherman forecast rains or thunder at many places in eastern Uttar Pradesh and a few places in western Uttar Pradesh. It warned that heavy rain is very likely at isolated places over the western region.
The Sharda has crossed the red mark at Pallia although it was on a declining trend. The Ghaghra was flowing above the danger mark at Elgin Bridge in Barabanki, Ayodhya and Turtipar in Ballia, the report said, adding that it was also rising in Ballia.
