Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij today condemned the attack on a school bus in Gurgaon during a protest against the release of film 'Padmaavat', saying action would be taken against those involved.
Yesterday, the bus carrying around 25 students of G D Goenka World School was attacked with bamboo sticks by a group of about 60 activists, believed to be members of a fringe group.
He told reporters that people have a right to protest but it should be peaceful.
"Action will be taken against whosoever was involved," Vij said, adding that targeting of school children would not be tolerated at any cost.
Meanwhile, the controversial movie was not screened in the cinema halls and multiplexes of Ambala City and Ambala Cantonment despite the police assuring the owners that adequate security would be provided.
The owners had already decided not to exhibit the movie following disruption of theaters by some fringe outfits.
Heavy police force was deployed in all the multiplexes here. Deputy Commissioner Sharandeep Kaur Barar said 13 duty magistrates were on duty to deal with any untoward incident.
Three motorcycle-borne youths pelted stones on a bus near village Kakkar Majra close to Naraingarh last night, police said.
No passenger was hurt in this incident except a few window panes of the bus, which was on its way to Shahjadpur, were cracked, they said.
On the complaint of the bus conductor, the police registered a case against the unidentified youths.
