Besides, services of laboratory technicians working on the contractual basis have been dispensed with immediate effect, an official release quoting Vij said.
The lab technicians had gone on strike yesterday alleging the government was not revising their cadre which, they said, was unfair.
He said the work in hospitals would not be interrupted and new lab technicians would be engaged on contract basis.
Process for fresh recruitment would soon begin and till then, doctors and nursing staff would serve the people, Vij said
"In such circumstances, the lab technicians had announced to go on strike by giving only three days' notice which is against humanity," he said.
The Minister said during this period some members of the 'Lab Technicians Union' met the additional chief secretary of the department.
He said the government had declared the strike as illegal and directed the employees to get back to work.
Some lab technicians joined their duty but several employees were found absent today, he said.
"Therefore, those who were found absent have been suspended and services of contractual employees have been dispensed with," Vij said.
