Other differently-abled persons would be given concessional smart cards to travel in Bus Rapid Transport Service (BRTS) buses, the mayor announced, adding that the decision would be effective from today.
"Mayor Meenakshi Patel announced that visually impaired or blind people will be given a yellow-coloured smart card to travel on BRTS buses free of cost," an Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) statement said here today.
"Other differently-abled persons with disabilities like hearing disabilities, speaking disabilities would be given a pink-coloured smard card, that would give them concessions on BRTS buses," the statement said.
According to the AMC, BRTS has a dedicated corridor of 82 km in the city, on which 160 buses would serve more than 1.30 lakh passengers everyday.
