Wellness firm VLCC is planning to start two vocational training centres in Jammu and Kashmir with an aim to provide employment skills to the youth in the field of beauty and nutrition in the state.
"VLCC proposes to start two vocational training centres for beauty and nutrition in the state of Jammu and Kashmir in the coming financial year, to provide employable skills in the fast-growing beauty and wellness domain to the youth of the region," a company spokesperson said here today.
She said employment skills would help the youth to become entrepreneurs and start their own venture.
"To start with, each of these institutes would enroll 200 students," she said.
The company spokesperson said VLCC was already providing training in beauty and nutrition to 400 youth of Jammu and Kashmir at its institutes in Delhi.
"VLCC's decision to expand the presence of the VLCC Institute of Beauty and Nutrition at Jammu and Kashmir is in keeping with the company's vision of contributing significantly to the 'Skill India' Mission of the Government of India and to the cause of women empowerment," she said.
She said that as women comprise the majority of the workforce in the Beauty and Wellness industry, it further underscores the need for large investments towards skill development in this domain.
"In addition to raising services delivery standards in a largely unorganized sector, it will also be a positive step towards encouraging women empowerment and critical to spurring the spirit of entrepreneurship amongst women. An increased focus on skill development in the beauty and wellness sector, moreover, will be in keeping with the Government's Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative" she said.
