WCD min fair from tomorrow to raise awareness about schemes

The Union Women and Child Development (WCD) Ministry will inaugurate a fair tomorrow in the city with a view to providing a boost to the schemes and programmes run by it and enhance awareness about the same.
Union WCD Minister Krishna Tirath will inaugurate the Vatsalya Mela-2013 tomorrow. The will also see her distributing the National Child Award for Exceptional Achievement.
The fair this year will focus on three themes - 'Ahimsa Messenger', the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the declining child sex ratio.
The fair will be on at two different Dilli Haats, at INA and Pitampura, for two weeks beginning November 14.
The National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development (NIPCCD) will showcase the Running Model of Child Care Centre and Nutrition Counselling (NRP) as part of the events at INA Dilli Haat.
Baby shows, fancy dress competitions, slogan writing, nutritious recipe contest, etc., too, will be organised by NIPCCD.
Tamil Nadu government will make a power point presentation on the Integrated Child Development Scheme covering its various aspects.
Events at Pitampura would include child and adolescent guidance and counselling services workshops. A panel discussion on women and the media will also be conducted by NIPCCD.
The women's cell of Delhi Police will also be organising a workshop on self-defence techniques for girls as part of the fair.
