Western Digital launches personal cloud storage solutions

Storage solutions major Western Digital (WD) today launched a series of personal cloud storage solutions, My Cloud, allowing users to organise, centralise and secure digital content from computers and mobile devices.
Besides, consumers can access their stored files from any device, from anywhere in the world.
WD has priced My Cloud at Rs 10,999 for 2 TB, Rs 12,999 for 3 TB and Rs 14,999 for 4 TB and is currently available at Reliance Digital and Croma apart from resellers and channel partners across India.
The My Cloud mobile app is available for download from the Apple App Store and Google Play.

"With thousands of files spread across several different computing devices, digital chaos is a challenge that consumers face on a daily basis," WD Sales Director Branded Products for India, Middle East & Africa Khalid Wani said.
Consumers want access to their data, all the time and WD's My Cloud personal cloud storage is an easy-to-use, secure and affordable solution that will empower consumers to live their digital lives without limits, he added.

According to research firm Gartner the average household will own about 3.3 terabytes (TB) of digital content by 2016.
In line with this growth of digital content is the increase in the number of Internet connected devices in India. The convergence of rapid content and device growth requires a new storage paradigm that gives consumers complete control over their digital lives, Wani said.

Personal cloud storage is the new standard that allows the user to keep media and files safe at home on their own physical drive and then access them over the Internet with any PC or Mac computer or on tablets and smartphones through mobile apps, he added.
"WD's rich web-based user interface allows users to get their personal cloud up and running in minutes. Our software auto-detects the drive to make setup simple for novice users," he said.
Once the My Cloud drive is set up, customers can easily connect their computers and mobile devices with WD's free desktop and mobile apps. With a gigabit ethernet connection and dual-core processor, transferring files is blazing fast, Wani added.
