Sushil Upahyaya, 32, husband of the victim Vibha, was arersted in Shalimar Garden area here after her family alleged that he was harasssing her for dowry and had set her afire after they could not fulfill his demands, police said today.
Vibha and Sushil were married seven years ago.
Sushil's family told police that when Vibha was preparing break-fast for her five-year-old son on Monday, her clothes caught fire. She was rushed to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
"We have arrested Sushil. Police are investigating allegations made by Vibha's family. A case has been registered in this regard," said a police officer.
