Kiran Mishra was on her way to drop her son to school when two bike-borne miscreants stopped next to her and snatched her chain, a police official said.
When the duo tried to steal the woman's earrings, she caught hold of one of them while the other got off from the bike and ran away, he said.
The accused, identified as Akram, was thrashed by locals before he was handed over to the police.
Akram has confessed to his involvement in several chain-snatching incident besides other petty crimes, the official said, adding, the accused is being interrogated to know about the whereabouts of other gang members.
