A 32-year-old woman was allegedly strangulated to death by her in-laws, who then hung her body from the ceiling to make it seem like a suicide in Sherpur village here, police said today.
Afzal, the husband of the victim Shabana, has been arrested and a case has been registered against five people who are absconding, SHO Chaman Singh Chawda said today.
The woman's brother Iqbal, in his complaint, alleged that she was strangulated to death and her body was hung from the ceiling at her in-laws' residence to make it seem like suicide.
She was being harassed for her inability to bear a child and the accused were demanding more dowry, Iqbal alleged.
The body has been sent for postmortem and investigation is on, Chawda said.
