The youth was arrested yesterday afternoon after he was caught by the girl's mother in a jute godown following the alleged crime.
"The baby was taken to Bagula Hospital for medical examination and she is stable now," her father, a state government employee, said.
The accused allegedly raped the girl at the godown after luring her with jujube fruit when her mother and other members of the family got busy in household chores, the police said.
The distraught father of the girl said he now wished to settle down somewhere else.
