India's stand-in skipper Jasprit Bumrah was the hero of the rain-marred day as he not only broke the world record for most runs hit in an over in Tests (He hit Stuart Broad for 35 runs in an over) but also took 3-35 to break the bat of English batting. England, at the end of Day two's play, were struggling at 83-5, trailing by 332 runs with Jonny Bairstow and skipper Ben Stokes in the middle. 

 

Earlier in the day, Ravindra Jadeja completed his third Test century as India reached 416. Jimmy Anderson also completed his 32nd five-wicket haul.

The Indian team will be looking to get as close as possible to 400 runs with Ravindra Jadeja at the crease. Jadeja’s ability to bat with the tail was evidently seen in the recent Test against Sri Lanka in Mohali, where he scored 175. Thus, he will be once again expected to deliver with the tail.

Rishabh Pant stole the show with his brilliant century in which he scored 146 in just 111 balls to guide India to 338-7 at the end of Day 1 at Edgbaston. Along with Pant, Ravindra Jadeja also played a brilliant knock and is unbeaten at 83 off 163 balls, aiming to get a hundred. India were reduced to 98-5 at one stage before the Pant-Jadeja duo added 222 for the sixth wicket to provide stability to the innings. 

 

For England, James Anderson has picked three wickets while Matty Potts has had two so far. Ben Stokes and Joe Root have got a wicket each too, while Stuart Broad and Jack Leach remained wicketless.
