Germany vs Belgium Live Score Updates, Hockey World Cup Final: Germany are the Hockey World Champions

 

This has been one thrilling Hockey World Cup and the final was just the icing that was required to make it the perfect cake. Germany, the comeback kings of this World Cup, were down 0-2 once again in the first 10 minutes of the game itself. To add to that misery, Tom Grambusch missed a penalty stroke as well. 

 

Niklas Wellen, the saviour of the Germans throughout this World Cup was once again back into the action, doing what he does as he scored just a minute away from the half time to make it 1-2.

 

In the second half, the Germans scored two more goals courtesy of goals from Gonzalo Peillat and skipper Mats Grambusch. But it was not going to end like it as Belgium came back with a goal in the 58th minute from Tom Boon to make it 3-3. 

 

The game then went into the shoot-out and over there, the German goalkeeper Alexander Stadler saved twice to give his team a chance to finish the game early. But Marco Miltkau and Mats Grambusch missed and  Antoine Kina scored for Belgium to get the game into sudden death. 

 

Germany went first and Niklas Wellen scored again. Victor Van Aubel followed him and then Thies Prinz scored again and gave the German goalkeeper a chance to become the hero. He did become that by saving against Cosyns and Germany won the shoot-out 5-4 to be crowned champions of the world.

Niklas Wellen comes first and scores as well. It is sudden death so whoever misses loses. 

 

Victor Van Aubel scores just in time to keep the Belgians alive 

 

Prinz scores with a diving effort and once again gives the German keeper a chance to become the hero by saving this one 

 

Cosyn comes on for Belgium and he just can not score and Germany are now the World Champions. The comeback kings have come back once again and thoroughly deserved the trophy.

Soot-Out begins

 

Van Aubel scores the first one and Belgium are one in one

 

Niklas Wellen scores for Germany and it is one all

 

Great save from the German goalkeeper give his team the advantage

 

Muller converts it on the rebound and Germany now lead 2-1 after two shots each 

 

Wegnez has also missed and the German keeper is having a great time here, gives his team another advantage 

 

Marco Miltkau is up next and once again he has missed it. He missed it against England in the quarterfinal too. Germany could have won it here 

 

Now Belgium have a chance to live by and Cosyns scores to level things up. Germany still have the advantage 

 

Prinz scores and Germany now have a 3-1 lead out of four shots. If the German goalkeeper saves this one, Germany will win.

 

Belgium must score and Keenan is the man to go for it and he scores. Its level again 3-3

 

Mats Grambusch is here to win for Germany. But he just cannot score. Its now going to sudden death.

The final match is now headed to the penalty shoot-out as Tom Boon scored in the 58th minute to steal the thunder of comebacks from Germany. It is the first time that Germans are the last to concede in a game in this World Cup. Now they will have to win it in the shoot-out. A one-to-one face-off.

With the video referral gone, Germany were forced to live by the umpire’s decision who gave a penalty corner when the replays showed that the ball was going in the Germany goal not after touching the German defender's foot, but after touching his stick.

 

The penalty corner was given against the Germans and as a result, Tom Boon took a shot and the Germs rusher rushed in quickly and got the ball on the stick and it then deflected on his arm. No reviews again and again a penalty corner for Boon and he scored finally to make it 3-3 with just One minuets and 43 seconds to go.

Hockey World Cup Final Live Score, Germany vs Belgium: Niklas Wellen the scorer, Germany get one back

 

How often have we seen Niklas Wellen score when all chips are down for the Germans? He has done it again. It was a well-taken short corner by Peillat and it got to Wellen who was right in front of the right bar of the Belgian post he got two touches on the ball, one on the volley and the other to get the ball in the goal. Now Germany will breathe some sigh of relief after having conceded two early goals and then missed a stroke as well.
